I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience providing services to children, adults and families. I received my Masters in Social Work from Columbia University where I was honored with the National Association of Social Workers Award for Student of the Year. From homeless youth and families, to child welfare, child psychiatry, and community mental health, my background has exposed me to hundreds of stories of loss, struggle and victory.
Believing in the powerful influence of the family unit as a defining factor in an individual’s life, I pursued extensive training in Family Therapy, including completing three years of post-graduate clinical training at the Family Institute of Westchester. Being a trained Family Therapist does not limit my work to families. Instead, it allows me to use a family systems lens to understand my clients within their historical and current family context.
I have also developed expertise in evidence-based clinical interventions that complement my work. I am certified as a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and use CBT and DBT techniques to help clients achieve lasting and impactful emotional and behavioral shifts. In addition, I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, a technique widely utilized as a catalyst to guide individuals towards higher motivation to change unwanted behaviors.
Beyond the specialized clinical training, I have gained practical knowledge in supporting parents and children through school difficulties, behavioral struggles, the stress of high performance sports, college admission process, and transition into college.
Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, I am fluent in Spanish and English. I live in Westchester County, NY, with my husband of 30 years. Together we raised our twin daughters and son, and currently spoil our two rescue dogs, Chica and Lalo. I am licensed to practice therapy in Connecticut and New York , and can see clients from either state in person or virtually.
